POSITANO · AMALFI COAST
Pastel cliffs, pebble beach, the Tyrrhenian below.
Boat days to Capri and the Blue Grotto, the Path of the Gods along the ridge, cooking classes in the lemon hills. Positano, Praiano, Amalfi, Ravello and the stretch of coast in between.
Only on the Amalfi Coast
Three things you can’t do anywhere else.
Boat trips and cooking classes exist in every coastal town. These three don’t. The trail, the cave, the kitchen. Each one is bound to this stretch of cliff between Sorrento and Salerno — the geology, the light, the families. Build the rest of the trip around them.
On the ridge
The Path Of The Gods
Sentiero degli Dei. Six kilometres along the spine of the Lattari mountains, fifteen hundred feet above the Tyrrhenian, no guardrails. The trail drops out of Nocelle on a thousand stone steps straight into Positano. Locals say the Greek gods used the path to descend to the sea. The view is the reason.

Into the cave
The Blue Grotto
A sea cave under the cliffs of Capri where the sunlight enters through an underwater arch and the whole chamber glows electric blue from below. The rowers stop singing, lie flat, and pull you in by chain. It only works on calm days, with the sun in the right place. There is nothing else like it on the Mediterranean.

In the lemon hills
Pasta With A Nonna
Half an hour up the hairpins behind Positano, families on the terraces have been making the same gnocchi, the same pasta, the same tiramisù for generations. You roll, they correct your hands, you eat what you made on a balcony above the coast. The lemons in your limoncello came from the tree six metres away.

The boat day
Start where Positano starts — on the water.
If you have only got one day on the coast, this is the one. The cliffs and the pastel houses look right from a small boat — Spiaggia Grande behind you, Capri ahead.
The classics
Positano’s Most Popular Tours
Capri, the Blue Grotto, the Amalfi Coast by boat, the Path of the Gods. The days travellers come to Positano for.
By town
Pick a stretch of the coast.
Each town is its own day. Capri for the Blue Grotto and the lemon walks. Amalfi for the duomo and the gelato. Praiano for the quiet sunsets. Sorrento for the lookout above the bay. Ravello for the gardens. Pompeii for the ruins under Vesuvius.
By tour type
Or pick how you’d like to spend the day.
A boat for the coast. A trail for the ridge. A kitchen for the pasta. Pompeii for the ruins. A glass of Falanghina for the rest. Pick your shape of day.
Positano has two faces
By sea or by land.
The village is pinned between the Tyrrhenian below and the Lattari mountains behind. Half of every trip happens on the water — boats out of Spiaggia Grande, Capri at the horizon, the Blue Grotto if the sea is calm. The other half happens above it — the Path of the Gods along the ridge, lemon-terrace kitchens up in the hills, Pompeii at the base of Vesuvius. Plan one of each.
Out of Spiaggia Grande
By Sea
The harbour at the base of the village is where Positano leaves from. Boats most mornings to Capri and the Blue Grotto, the long arc east to Amalfi by mid-afternoon, sunset cruises pushing off at six.

Above the coast road
By Land
Behind Positano the hairpins climb into the Lattari mountains. The Path of the Gods runs the ridgeline; family kitchens cook on the lemon terraces; Pompeii and Vesuvius sit on the far side of the peninsula.

The famous island
If you came for Capri.
The Blue Grotto, the Faraglioni, the lemon walks above Marina Piccola. Capri is the most-booked day off Positano. If we had to pick three boats to get you there, these are the ones we’d book.
The full coast, slowly
The Amalfi Coast days.
Positano, Praiano, the fjord at Furore, Amalfi, the cliffs of Conca dei Marini, swims in coves you can’t reach by road. Our three favourite ways to see the coast end-to-end from the deck of a small boat.
When the light turns gold
Positano’s evening hour.
The cliffs flush pink, the church dome catches the last sun, the bay goes still. Sunset on the Amalfi Coast is its own activity. Three boats we’d step onto at six.
When you have an extra day
Beyond the coast.
Pompeii an hour up the peninsula. Vesuvius the crater behind it. Herculaneum, the smaller buried town. Naples for the pizza. Three day trips worth saving the strongest pair of shoes for.
